Spider-Man 2’s Reported Duration Is Already Dividing Players

How many hours justify $70?

UPDATE: On October 3, 2023, Insomniac Games community manager James Stevenson reposted a tweet stating that the game’s icon is the white spider logo on a black background. Thus, some of the screenshots showing the game’s Platinum are fake.

Last month, Insomniac Games revealed the total game length of Spider-Man 2, causing a divide in the gaming community who were expecting a longer amount than revealed. The division has caused several discussions on the topic to happen around several social media websites such as Reddit and Twitter.

Spider-Man 2’s main campaign duration was stated to be a total of 18 hours. According to Insomniac, the game would take roughly the same time to complete its main campaign as the first game. Completing the game to 100% would take double that amount, totaling ~30 hours of total game time. This news is what has several fans divided, with some complaining about this length of time.

The community is latching onto the fact that it won’t take long to unlock the game’s Platinum Trophy, the award for completing 100% of the game’s challenges. This came after a screenshot by one player made the rounds across social media showing the amount of time it took to get the lauded trophy. While it isn’t surprising, as it takes roughly the same amount of time as the first game to complete, it still was something that some players didn’t like as it was deemed “short.”

Thus, players can find posts like this flooding places like Reddit and Twitter discussing the length of Spider-Man 2 at large while talking about how long a game of this caliber should be and whether or not the price tag of $70 is justified.

Spider-Man 2 will be released exclusively on PlayStation 5 on October 20, 2023.
