Resident Evil 8 Retail Listing Spotted, “Darkest and Cruelest Part of the Resident Evil Series”

It looks like we could be getting a Resident Evil 8 reveal sooner rather than later if this retail listing is accurate.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Between the popularity of Resident Evil 7 and the two remakes with Resident Evil 2 and 3, it’s obvious that Capcom has a zombie fascination right now and with good reason. So what’s next for the franchise? Resident Evil 8: Village is the reported next game up in the series, according to one retailer leak.

According to the German game retailer “GamesOnly”, Resident Evil 8: Village will be “the darkest and cruelest part of the Resident Evil series,” which is saying something considering how dark Resident Evil 7 got, especially post-launch. Below is a link to the retailer leak and a look at the alleged box art.

Previous rumors regarding the next Resident Evil adventure alleged that Resident Evil 8 would be cross-generational, which would be supported by the retailer leak advertising the game for the PlayStation 4. The “Uncut” terminology is also something that is fairly common in German advertising, and not necessarily pertaining to any specific changes regarding launch.

Another clue about the accuracy of this leak is timing. This week is the week that E3 would have taken place had it not been for COVID-19. Resident Evil 7 was first announced during the 2016 E3 showcase before its release, which makes the timing of this particular oopsie a little more credible. That being said, it’s important to take all rumors and leaks with a grain of salt until Capcom themselves make the official reveal – no matter how likely reports seem.

As for when we will see Resident Evil 8, the next step of this franchise will reportedly be released in early Q1 2021 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
