Announced for release in Japan some time ago, Pokemon Rumble U is officially headed Stateside.  Nintendo said the game will come to the North American Wii U eShop August 29th, with a release in Europe two weeks earlier on the 15th.

The game utilizes figurines that can be scanned into the game, just like Skylanders, using the Wii U’s Near Fields Communication tech built into the console.

As for where you can buy figures for the game, U.S. players will be able to purchase them through any GameStop at $4 apiece.  No word on where European players will be able to get their figures.

We’ll have a first look at Pokemon Rumble U in the weeks ahead, as well as some strategies that will help you out in battle.
