New Mario Switch OLED Launches Alongside Super Mario Wonder

It's a Me, OLED Mario!

The Nintendo Switch is no stranger to unique and special consoles, and it looks like our next iteration is right on the horizon. Announced today during the Super Mario Wonder, the next special edition Nintendo Switch OLED is making its debut sooner than expected. It is featuring a deep red color pallet to celebrate our favorite Italian plumber.

Including subtle nods to the main man Mario himself, fans of his platforming games and antics can now sport a new Nintendo Switch model, with a matching dock included. While the most recent Tears of the Kingdom model featured a much more flamboyant design, the subtle nod to Mario may be appreciated by those who like the simpler things in life.

If you’re hoping to get your hands on a new set of Joycons, there is a chance that fans won’t need to shell out for a whole new console, and may be able to purchase the Joycons on their own. If it’s anything like the Mario Odyssey Switch that launched years ago, these Joycons will be available to purchase at a later date.

While Super Mario Wonder launches on October 20, fans looking to prepare for the newest game can get their hands on this particular Switch model on October 6, with pre-orders available now. Be sure to get your order in before all of these go missing.

While it was not noted during the direct, we’ll need to wait and see if this special edition Switch comes with a copy of the newest Mario platformer, but if the past has taught us anything, we’ll need to invest and purchase the game separately. That being said, I haven’t been this excited about a Mario platformer in quite some time, so I’ll be contemplating trading in my OLED for this new model.
