Mandatory installs are nothing new for PlayStation 3 owners, as some games require the use of hard drive space in order to run properly. However, you rarely run into such things on Xbox 360. That isn’t the case for Grand Theft Auto V.
Rockstar Games announced that both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will require mandatory installs for Grand Theft Auto V, the company’s long-awaited sequel. You’ll need at least 8 GB of hard drive space in order for the game to work, either through an installed hard drive for either system, or a 16 GB flash stick on the Xbox 360.
“Grand Theft Auto V is the largest and most ambitious game we have yet created, and takes full advantage of every ounce of processing power available in the current generation of consoles,” said a Rockstar rep.
The game will ship on two discs for Xbox 360 and one disc for PlayStation 3. There’s no word on plans for a PC release, but we’ll keep you posted.
Grand Theft Auto V arrives in stores on September 17th.
