Fake Starfield GPU Giveaways Are Circulating, And Even AMD is Warning Players

Spacial scams incoming.

Fans have been looking forward to the upcoming giveaways of the special AMD Starfield-themed CPUs and GPUs, but Bill Murphy, GTM Manager for AMD, has recently reached out to the public to alert them about possible frauds currently going on, as was unfortunately expected.

Earlier this month in QuakeCon, Bethesda unveiled the exclusive Starfield Limited Edition GPU and CPUs, celebrating the imminent release of their long-awaited Open-Galaxy RPG in partnership with AMD. But instead of selling those for an inhuman sum, they opted to distribute them through giveaways.

Only 500 of the special Radeon 7900 XTX GPUs and Ryzen 7800X3D CPUs exist, and some were supposedly already distributed during QuakeCon, but no other official giveaway has been made yet. But when a gaming account on X (formerly known as Twitter) announced a giveaway, Murphy intervened.

“We do not believe this is a partner of AMD or Bethesda”, announced Murphy. While the original giveaway post reached over 4,000 reactions, his clarification doesn’t have half of the same engagement despite being an official source.

This is another example of people exploiting the game’s hype for their own profits, be it for social media engagement or any other type of profit. A man was arrested a few days ago after releasing footage of the game’s first minutes in his own socials. He was also allegedly selling early copies of the game, showing his many copies (alongside his face) in various videos.

No other official giveaways have been officially announced as of yet, so you should be skeptical of any suspicious account claiming to have one of these extremely rare Graphics. Make sure to keep track of official Starfield and/or AMD accounts to be sure whether a giveaway is real or not because this was certainly not the first scam we’ve seen involving them.
