Bungie Delays Destiny 2: Beyond Light

That's the sound of Guardians everywhere weeping into the Darkness.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is the next step for the Destiny-verse with a brand new expansion bringing a new story, delicious new features, and more gear to earn. While it was originally intended for a September launch, the folks over at Bungie dropped some bad news for Guardians over on their blog. While not a major delay, Destiny 2: Beyond Light is delayed until November.

Beyond Light aims to tell a powerful new story, taking the online game to even darker places with the return of Exo the Stranger and taking the fight to the Darkness once and more all. From what we’ve seen thus far, it looks incredible, but it needs a little more time to fully bake.

With COVID-19 not easing up in the US due to premature openings, many companies are still feeling the weight of the pandemic in its full force. Bungie is included in this, which means the team just needs a little more additional time to put the polish needed for the next step of the Destiny 2 journey.

“Over the coming weeks, we’ll be unveiling more of what we’re working on for Beyond Light and what that also means for Season of Arrivals, which will now extend to November 10,” reads the latest blog post over on Bungie.net. “Beyond Light sets the stage for an incredible future in Destiny 2 and, though it’s coming later than we originally anticipated, we’re excited to continue that journey with you this November.”

While the delay is sad to see, it’s better to take the additional time to put in the efforts needed for a smoother launch, especially so for a live-service game where server issues are very real and major changes aren’t always the most popular choices.
