The new sequel to the legendary Sonic the Hedgehog is almost there! Sonic Frontiers represents the first mainline 3D Sonic game in a long time – there hasn’t been one since Sonic Forces in 2017. And while we patiently wait for November 8 when Sonic Frontiers will be released for practically all systems in existence, we watched and analyzed many trailers and announcements as we try to manage our excitement and hope that the dreaded Sonic cycle will not repeat itself.
Hopefully, Sonic Frontiers will turn out alright, but we can’t know for sure until the game is in our hands. Until then, SEGA is trying to gently introduce us to the world and story of this game with a lot of additional prequel material that they publish on their social media. We’ve collected everything published so far below.

Sonic Frontiers Prologue
In the six-minute animated short named Sonic Frontiers Prologue: Divergence, we got to see a nice chunk of the prologue story from the point of view of Knuckles who is guarding the Master Emerald on Angel Island, where he happens to find a secret place that teleports him to the world of Sonic Frontiers. He fights some robots and ultimately gets captured in the end -so you, as Sonic, will have to save him in the game.
Since we know that Sonic will have to free his other friends in Sonic Frontiers as well, we will probably get to see how other characters ended up trapped on Starfall Island soon.
Sonic Frontiers Prequel Digital Comic
So far, two episodes of the Sonic Frontiers Prologue comics named Convergence have been published. You can read them on Sonic The Hedgehog official Twitter.
In the prologue comics so far, we’ve learned how Eggman ended up on Kronos Island (the first of the Starfall islands) and also saw a panel where Sonic kicks robot Eggman’s severed head to Amy so that she can launch it further with her piko-piko hammer. If Sonic Frontiers ends up having a co-op moves like that, we might have something here!
Keep an eye on this page as we will keep adding all pre-release tie-in media for Sonic Frontiers as it becomes available. Sonic Frontiers launches on November 8 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Microsoft Windows.
