One of 2013’s biggest games was Rockstar’s tour-de-force sequel, Grand Theft Auto 5. Featuring three compelling characters to choose from, hours’ worth of missions to beat and plenty of the open-world gameplay we’ve come to expect from the franchise, it quickly became a colossal success on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

This fall, it’ll make a presumably triumphant return, this time on the new generation of consoles, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, along with the PC. All of the missions and DLC previously released for the game will be included, along with the full content for the entertaining multiplayer component, Grand Theft Auto Online.

Is GTA 5 worth buying again? Of course! Here are five reasons you’ll double dip.

GTA 5 is one heck of a wild ride

Many gamers beat Grand Theft Auto 5’s main story mode, but that doesn’t mean they can’t go back and have fun. Whether it’s causing chaos on the freeway, getting into gun battles or simply exploring the city in an aerial vehicle (while outrunning soldiers on the ground), there’s a ton of stuff to enjoy. Besides, there’s bound to be a side mission (or 20) that people missed the first time through.

Grand Theft Auto Online is still insanely good

Rockstar Games opened up a vast component alongside GTA 5 when it released Grand Theft Auto Online, a multiplayer world where you create your own shootouts, events and more. While a little buggy at first, the online experience received some much-needed development love, and should be even better on higher-end machines like the PC and Microsoft and Sony’s consoles. Make sure you have your hierarchy in order, because you’ll need every club member you can get.

You can transfer save files from the previous version

One thing that frustrates us is when a publisher releases a new version of a pre-released game, but doesn’t allow the ability to transfer our progress. Announced during the Sony E3 2014 press conference, you’ll be able to port your Grand Theft Auto Online character and progress to the new game, then pick up right where you left off. Granted, you’ll have to start Story Mode over again, but that’s not entirely a bad thing. Plus, you can try a different character.

You didn’t find all the secrets

Grand Theft Auto 5 contains a wealth of hidden items. Whether it’s special vehicles or hidden goodies like the UFO parts, there’s a whole mess of stuff to find throughout Los Santos and Blaine County. Chances are only a few gamers managed to find 100 percent of this content, so the new release for PS4, Xbox One and PC will give them a second chance to catch up. Who knows? Rockstar may even throw in some bonus content to keep newcomers and veterans occupied.

GTA 5 next gen looks incredible

Rockstar Games will do so much more than simply port GTA 5. Instead, it will completely revamp the game from the ground up, with more realistic environments and terrain. In addition, there’s rumor of a speedier frame rate (around 60 frames per second), as well as better cinema quality and draw distance. Watch the video to see evidence of this.

Grand Theft Auto 5 will release later this year for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and is available now for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Be sure to check out our Free Guide for further coverage on everything you need to know about the game!
