Warhammer 40K: Darktide offers four robust classes, each with their playstyles and sub-playstyles. As just one example, you could play a backline Veteran with a Boltgun or Helbore Lasgun, or you could play a more frontline Veteran with a combat shotgun. The options are endless, and there are plenty of opportunities to build variety. One such character that many are trying to make builds for is our favorite warrior of the God-Emperor. Here’s the best build for the Zealot Preacher in Warhammer 40K: Darktide.
The Best Loadout for Zealot Preacher in Darktide
As the semi-frontline for the squad, only succeeded in front lining by the Ogryn Skullbreaker, the Zealot Preacher dishes out divine retribution in the form of heavy hits, pain, and destruction. Thanks to their dash ability, they can get into the fight and dish out tons of damage quickly, also providing some nice buffs for their team. Like Victor Saltzpyre from Vermintide, they’re the least talked about class in the game but are also one of the most powerful.
For weapon selection, we recommend the following loadout:
- Primary Weapon: Thunder Hammer
- Secondary Weapon: Flamer/Boltgun
The primary weapon choice is considered by most in the community to be the best melee for Zealot Preacher, let alone the best in the game. Thanks to its special action, Zealot can hit most enemies in the head with a heavy attack and delete them. That’s not even considering the chunking it can do to monstrosities. Its ranged weapon is a little more flexible, teetering between the Flamer and the Boltgun. Flamer brings insane damage to hordes with its AoE damage and burn stacks that constantly apply. If you want some more range, the Boltgun can do some insane burst damage despite its relatively low ammo count.
Moving over to feats, this is the best setup we could find with some flexibility based on weapon choice.
- Level 5: Enemies Within, Enemies Without
- Level 10: Punishment
- Level 15: Inspiring Excoriation
- Level 20: Thy Wrath Be Swift
- Level 25: Rising Conviction/Emperor’s Executioner
- Level 30: Fury of the Faithful
The feat choices here are designed to let you play close-range while also supporting your allies. The level 10 talent is particularly useful, as the feat triggers off of Flamer hits provided you’re running it. When it comes to the level 25 talent, your choice will depend on whether you’re using the Flamer (Rising Conviction) or the Boltgun (Emperor’s Executioner). There’s flexibility elsewhere of course, though this is the build we felt worked best for us.

Once you get them built up, the Zealot Preacher can be an incredible value to their team. All of this, while delivering all sorts of fury whether it be through fire, lightning, or sheer power.
