Stress is a real bastard in Potionomics. It seems like it isn’t a big deal at first, but then the moment things go poorly it’s hard to climb back out. Each percentage is a slightly higher chance of a ruined turn, thanks to Tension cards you can’t use or get rid of easily. And if you end a turn with one in your hand, you get a nasty debuff on your interest abilities. Stress lingers too, so it’s not like taking care of a customer or even a set of customers makes it go away. You don’t want to roll up on a boss showdown at the end of a ten day period with a bunch of stress piled up, so what can you do? Well, you have a few options from the get-go.

The first option is to simply get some rest. Going to sleep at a reasonable hour is the easiest and most effective way to clear up that self-destructive brain fog. Ending the day by staying busy until you have to choice but to turn in is unhealthy, turns out. But if you can leave yourself at least one piece of time open and end the day manually, the stress you have built up will melt away. Of course, if you don’t have any stress on you then you don’t need to worry about it. Hustle culture lives on.

There are also a few cards you can get that can lower your stress in the middle of haggling. Saffron the carpenter, who we’ve mentioned before in our guide to getting and using more shelves and cauldrons in Potionomics, is the first source of that. Building favor with her will get you some stress-relieving cards, which can be pretty helpful if you have room for them. Obviously, they can’t beat getting some decent rest, but if you want some in-the-moment mitigation, there you go.
