Once again Forge gets the short end of the stick.

Halo Infinite is shaping up quite well, but it’s not without its problems. Today, 343 Studios released a roughly 30 minute August developer update. It comes with quite some disappointing news.

Halo Infinite Will Not Have Campaign Co-op Or Forge At Launch

Halo Infinite has not been delayed, however, it will launch without a few key features fans know and love. The biggest point being that Halo Infinite will not have a campaign coop at launch.

During the developer update Head of Creative Joseph Staaten Staten said, “Unfortunately as we focus the team for shutdown and really focused on a quality experience for launch, we made the really tough decision to delay shipping campaign coop for launch, and we also made the tough call to delay shipping Forge past launch.”

Both of these are integral to Halo, but its clear 343’s number one priority is making sure that what it ships meets the high-quality standards of the studio. Staten goes on to say, “We made the determination they’re just not ready, and as a studio, we don’t want to ship things that are not ready.”

Of course, this is a bummer for fans of both coop and if you’re a sicko like me and love custom games. The seasonal roadmap for Halo Infinite is to ship campaign coop for Season 2 and Forge for season 3.

What this means is coop will come three months after launch and Forge six months after launch. This is quite a ways from the initial launch time, which is still slated for Holiday 2021. 343 has not given a timeframe other than that, but we imagine that information will be coming soon because the team is running out of time.
