Hawkeye and Next-Gen Join Marvel’s Avengers in March

Someone responsible for this release schedule really loves archery, huh?

Marvel’s Avengers has had a bit of a bumpy road since it launched, with delays hitting planned add-on content and the PS5/Xbox Series X upgrade. The team at Crystal Dynamics has cleared that hump now, announcing that both Hawkeye and the “next-gen” upgrades for Marvel’s Avengers are both launching on March 18, 2021.

Hawkeye and Next-Gen Join Marvel’s Avengers in March

Just like Kate Bishop, Marvel’s Avengers players will be able to use Hawkeye and play through his Future Imperfect storyline at no extra cost. The monetization for the game is more of a battle pass-like model, which gives you credits, costumes and other cosmetics as you play (if you pay).

The Future Imperfect storyline seems to feature Maestro as the villain, an alternate version of Hulk with as much brain as brawn. The next-gen upgrade is something we’ve all known about for a while. Once it comes out, anyone who already has Marvel’s Avengers will be able to download the upgrade for free on their platform of choice.

The update adds new visual details, a higher resolution and frame rate, and reduced loading times. The extent of all that will be clear soon enough. Additionally, players will be able to import their save data to the new version, and will still be able to play with other people across generations (not across platforms, though).

The last major content update came in December 2020, with the aforementioned Kate Bishop. That storyline leads into Future Imperfect, so if you’re planning to hop back into Marvel’s Avengers you’ll want to play that part first, before you dive into the Hawkeye stuff.

That’s all for now, but you can bet we’ll be seeing more happening in the Marvel’s Avengers timeline, since Crystal Dynamics likely has even more content in the works. Let us know what you think on the official Prima Twitter and Facebook pages.
