We’ve had plenty of stellar Batman games in the past and now it’s time for the extended Bat-family to get their time to shine. WB Games Montreal revealed their long-leaked Batman game this past weekend during DC Fandome and while this adventure doesn’t actually feature Batman – he’s dead – it does offer an array of playable characters as well as a pretty nifty co-op experience.
Batman is dead?
The reveal trailer from WB Games Montreal showed off a Gotham that is struggling with the idea that Batman is now dead and where they go from here. Luckily, he wasn’t the only hero in the DC-verse, which called upon new members of the Bat-family to pick up the mantle.
The below trailer shows off Nightwing, Red Hood, Batgirl, and Robin all taking up the role of protector, including moments where the four can actually group up and fight against the evils of Gotham together. Even better, DC fans can take on Gothan Knights in co-op, which makes fighting crime that much more effective.
The Court of Owls confirmed
A big rumor for the last two years has been that The Court of Owls would be center stage, a rumor that the folks over at WB did nothing to quell with their own teasers posted up on social media. Now we know exactly how this syndicate works in the upcoming Batman (sans Batman) game, including a narrative that revolves around the Court with the trailer above seeing a recitation of the infamous poem from the comics.
In addition to the above trailer, we also got a sneak peek at some actual gameplay, though the studio was careful to share that this is all pre-alpha footage and not necessarily indicative of the final product:
Between this and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, there is a lot of gaming goodness on the horizon for DC fans.
