NSMB Wii gets arcade release

Capcom and Mario in mini-game mash-up

An arcade version of New Super Mario Bros. Wii has hit Japanese shores this week, and surprisingly, it’s made by Capcom.

The game’s full title is New Super Mario Bros. Wii Coin World, catchy ain’t it? It isn’t to be a direct port of the Wii version however, and is based on a series of mini-games.

Like it’s Wii counterpart the game is playable for up to four people but instead of simply being based around side-scrolling levels, each player is competing on sets of mini-games in order to collect the highest amount of coins.

Check Capcom’s Japanese site for proof we’re not just making this up, despite it being April Fools Day.

Whether it’s ever going to leave Japan or not we don’t know.
