Best Deadpool Roles in Marvel Rivals, Ranked

Deadpool can be played as a Duelist, Vanguard, or Strategist, with his skills changing drastically depending on which role you choose for him. To truly understand how he works, you’ll want to review all Deadpool abilities and kit for each role, as he’s a highly complex unit to get used to playing. Here’s how each of his three possible roles stacks up against the others, ranked from best to worst.
1) Vanguard Deadpool (Vanpool)
By far the best version of Deadpool is Vanguard, which essentially plays like a high mobility hybrid between a Duelist and a Vanguard while in this role. Because of this, he’s generally not amazing as a solo tank, but it’s still doable with a reliable team to back you up. He truly shines when you have another Vanguard backing you up, though.
Deadpool as a Vanguard is one of the only tanks that is a real threat from both far away and up close. This factor, combined with his superb mobility, allows him to traverse around the battlefield with ease, causing chaos and confusion wherever he goes, while simultaneously working on making space for his allies and tanking damage dealt by the enemy team.
The Vanguard version of Deadpool certainly excels at being a strong tank, but he also feels like a better DPS than the actual Duelist version of Deadpool. You can do everything the Duelist version does as a tank, but better, and with the added bonus of some strong Vanguard skills.

2) Strategist Deadpool (Stratpool)
The Strategist version of Deadpool is surprisingly solid and reliable for a character you would likely have never expected to specialize in healing. He’s not necessarily a primary healer who can truly hold his own, like Invisible Woman or Cloak & Dagger, but he works exceptionally well as long as you have at least one other Strategist working with him.
What’s nice about the Strategist version of Deadpool is that he excels at dishing out serious damage output while also healing his allies, as he can do both at the same time, similar to Gambit or Invisible Woman.
His healing is also quite steady and reliable, and one of his moves feels like a less powerful version of Mantis’s ultimate ability, allowing for powerful mass healing within a certain radius. He builds his ultimate really fast in this role, too, and you can focus on upgrading his healing abilities early on to truly make him a potent support for his allies.
The Strategist version of Deadpool is also fairly mobile and quick, with a couple abilties that work well for saving yourself and your ally support when a dive tries to come at you. He’s certainly one of the most anti-dive supports you can play, and I’ve found his capabilities when forced to go one-on-one with a Duelist targeting you fairly strong, similar to Gambit, as you can usually either scare them off with a couple of strong hits or flee to your team quickly thanks to his superb mobility.

3) Duelist Deadpool (Duelpool)
Duelist Deadpool is easily the worst version of the iconic Merc with a Mouth. He’s not bad, per se, but it really feels like he’s just a worse version of the other two roles, especially Vanguard. While Deadpool is a Duelist, it just feels like he has the same abilities as the Vanguard variant, but on a lesser scale.
He simply cannot keep up with the other two roles and doesn’t bring anything special or exciting to the table while fulfilling the Duelist slot. There are also loads of other Duelists worth choosing over him, like Hela, Phoenix, and Winter Soldier.
Just about every team you join will be in need of another Vanguard or Strategist, too, as Duelist tends to be the most popular pick, so it’s not only a better idea to run Deadpool as one of the other roles, but it’s also much easier and more helpful for the team overall to do so. Duelist Deadpool won’t fail you, necessarily, but he also generally won’t feel like an exceptionally powerful or unique DPS pick.

Which Role Should You Choose For Deadpool in Marvel Rivals?
Overall, the best role for Deadpool is Vanguard in Marvel Rivals. He’s a tricky but powerful character to play in all roles, but Vanguard is by far the most useful and effective in battle. His skillset just clicks and functions the best when tanking for his team, so this is always the best choice for him.
If you’re looking for some tasks to tackle while you work on mastering Deadpool, consider working your way through some tough achievements like Grand Garden Gator, Lost in The Game, The Defenders, Prank of Monkey King, and Blueprints Supreme.
