There are three types of Leather you can get in Hytale, including Light Leather, Medium Leather, and Heavy Leather. All types of Leather can be made using a Tanning Rack, although you also might find some in chests while exploring and looting around the world.

The process for getting each type of Leather looks a bit different, as you’ll need to take down different creatures to earn the resources you need to make each one. To start, though, you’ll want to craft a Tanning Rack, which is one of the many Workbenches you can craft.

How to Get Light Leather in Hytale

Light Leather can be made by processing Light Hide at the Tanning Rack. You’ll need to take down smaller creatures, like Boars, Rabbits, and Chickens, to acquire the right type of hide. Not all animals that can drop this material will do so every time you kill them, though, so luck plays a big role in how easy or difficult it is to get.

How to Get Medium Leather in Hytale

You can make Medium Leather by inputting Medium Hide into the Tanning Rack. This process looks the same as Light Leather, except you need a rarer hide to get it going. Take on some mid-sized creatures and armored beasts, like Sabretooths and Hyenas, to acquire this drop.

How to Get Heavy Leather in Hytale

Heavy Leather is made by using Heavy Hide at a Tanning Rack. You’ll need to take on some truly apex predators, like Bears and Wolves, to have a shot at getting some Heavy Hide. These creatures are no joke, so make sure you have strong weapons and armor before attempting to take them on in battle. All hides are also random loot drops, so even if you put in the work and do win a fight, you may not find what you’re after. It might take several fights to get the item you need.
