The Mounts of Mayhem update is primarily dedicated to adding new mounts, but there’s also quite a lot of chaos to go with them. Here are all of the major features included in this Minecraft update.

  • Nautilus – A fresh underwater mob called the Nautilus is one of the biggest additions featured in this update. You can mount this creature to explore underwater without worrying about coming up for air, as you have an endless supply of it thanks to the Breath of the Nautilus effect, as long as you stay mounted. While exploring, you may sometimes find Nautilus Armor to equip your loyal friend with. While the regular Nautilus is friendly, there’s also the Zombie Nautilus variant of this mob, which is used by Drowned, that you’ll need to watch out for.
  • Spear – A whole new way of fighting is being added in this update, thanks to the Spear. This weapon allows you to make quick, deadly jabs from afar, keeping distance between yourself and your enemy while still dishing out solid damage. The faster you’re traveling when using this weapon, the more damage you’ll deal. If you want to make your weapon extra powerful, you can also apply the Lunge Enchantment to it.

  • Camel Husk – The Camel Husk is a spooky variant of the regular Camel mob. They’re passive, but their riders aren’t, so you’ll need to take out the rider before you can befriend this creature.
  • Zombie Horses – While exploring the Plains and Savanna biomes, you may now encounter Zombie Horses. Initially, they’ll be ridden by Zombies, but if you kill them, the Zombie Horses are passive.
  • Parched – In deserts, you might run into the Parched. This new mob is fairly similar to the Skeleton and basically acts as a reskinned version of it that’s exclusive to sandy and warmer areas. They can also ride Camel Husks.
  • Swimming for all – Prior to this update, mounts couldn’t swim, which made getting around tough. Luckily, all older mounts are gaining the ability to swim right over bodies of water at a moderate pace, allowing you to traverse the world with ease, no matter what mount you choose to do so with.

There’s plenty you can tackle in Minecraft while you wait for this massive update to arrive. If you’re not sure what to do, you might try befriending some Armadillos, using an Ominous Bottle, and making some Wolf Armor.
