Activision and Bungie will release Destiny: The Taken King on September 15, 2015 for PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360. The expansion pits Guardians against Oryx, Crota’s father. Players must explore Oryx’s Dreadnaught ship and battle The Taken, new enemies with powerful abilities. This also means new opportunities for loot and collectibles. To learn more, read this article about Oryx and how he ties into the game. You can also experiment with three new Subclasses: Sunbreaker, Nightstalker and Stormcaller. Finally, we have the complete list of new features.

The PlayStation 4 will feature exclusive Taken King content. This includes the Co-op Strike: Echo Chamber, Competitive Multiplayer Map: Sector 618, Hesperos Legendary Gear, Azoth Bend Legendary Gear, Neuroghast Legendary Gear and the Jade Rabbit Exotic Scout Rifle. Additionally, there is a PlayStation 4 Limited Edition 500 GB bundle. It comes with a Destiny-themed PS4 system with matching Glacier White DualShock 4 controller.

While you’re busy downloading the 17 GB patch required for The Taken King, we thought it would be helpful to provide you with some tips, as well as random notes on what you should expect as you begin Year 2.

  • There are new kiosks in the Tower, allowing you to manage things like shaders, emblems, ships and even Abandoned Quests.
  • You now have a page allowing you to track bounties, showing your progress when you pull up your Ghost. This quality of life feature is quite good.
  • Two of the cooler kiosks are found in the Hall of Guardians, displaying the new Exotic Weapon Blueprints, as well as Exotic Armor Blueprints.
  • You no longer have to fuss with your Light level when ranking up, as this has been changed to XP. Plan to grind on story missions to reach level 40.
  • Armsday is every Wednesday, and this is an opportunity for you to test new weapons the Gunsmith has in stock. It’s like going to the shooting range.
  • Each Destiny branded can of Red Bull contains a code for an XP bonus. Activate this code and then turn in your bounties for lots of XP.
