How to Get Polyatomic Ion Particles in The First Descendant

There's got to be another way to do this...

Polyatomic Ion Particles might be the hardest Energy Activator material to farm in The First Descendant. You need hundreds of these materials to max out your favorite Descendants and weapons, which might take days or even weeks to farm. You can minimize the grind by following some simple strategies. Here’s how to get Polyatomic Ion Particles in The First Descendant.

Where to Get Polyatomic Ion Particles in The First Descendant

Polyatomic Ion Particles drop from most of the missions in the Fortress region. They’ll drop on normal and hard difficulties, so if you feel that you aren’t strong enough yet, you can still farm the materials in normal mode.

Here are the missions that drop Polyatomic Ion Particles:

  • Munition Loading Dock
  • Command Relay
  • Ship Charging Facility
  • Frozen Shipyard
  • Giant Hangar
  • High-thermal Source Detected Zone
  • Destroyed Base
  • Fortress Command Entrance

Polyatomic Ion Particles specifically drop from the elite commanders, usually at the end of the mission. Some of these missions take longer than the other, and your speed also depends on the Descendant you are using. Use Bunny if you can because of her Speed of Light ability. Valby is also great since she is probably the second fastest Descendant in the game.

Best Polyatomic Ion Particles Farming Location

If I were to choose, I’d go for the missions Giant Hangar and Fortress Command Entrance. These take less than three minutes to finish. If you are not using Bunny, you should only go for the Fortress Command Entrance mission.

Your goal is to finish the missions as fast as possible. After repeating a couple of these missions, you can get a hang of the enemy’s spawn locations to finish these missions even faster. The spawn order of the enemies is always fixed, so you’ll only get better. You can even drop that 3-minute run to 2 minutes if you do things perfectly.

What Are Polyatomic Ion Particles Used For?

There are only two recipes you can use Polyatomic Ion Particles for:

Energy Activators72

Energy Activators are one of the main enhancing materials to strengthen your Descendants and weapons in The First Descendant’s endgame. You want to craft Energy Activators as much as possible to build and try new weapons and Descendants. It is practically mandatory to have these upgraded when finishing endgame activities.
