Nintendo announced today that the game has “sold” more than four million copies worldwide over the last four days, the fastest-selling in the series to date. That’s a huge leap compared to what Pokemon White 2 and Black 2 sold in the same window – by approximately 70 percent.

“The early response to Pokémon X and Pokémon Y not only reaffirms the ongoing passion of Pokémon fans,” said Nintendo President Satoru Iwata, “But also indicates that an entirely new generation of gamers is eager to experience the franchise for itself.”

Look for the sales to continue well into the holiday season.

Pokemon X & Y are available now for Nintendo 3DS, through both physical retail and digital download via eShop.
