Vincent is undeniably one of the coolest characters in the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, so you’re undoubtedly wondering whether you’ll be able to play as him in FF7 Rebirth. Here’s what you need to know about whether Vincent Valentine is playable or not in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
Note that this guide contains MAJOR STORY SPOILERS, so read on at your own risk!
Can I Play as Vincent in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth?
Unfortunately, Vincent Valentine is not playable in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. I know – I’m sad too, though it just makes me even more excited for the third game in the Remake series. But that’s not to say that his appearance in Rebirth isn’t any less cool, though. Once he decides to join the team, he still travels around with everyone and is there for the game’s most epic moments, so it’s not all bad.
You also learn a bit about Vincent’s backstory: how he’s a former Turk looking for revenge and that he was also slighted by Sephiroth and wants to help Cloud track him down. We can expect to discover even more about him in the final Remake entry.
When Does Vincent Join the Party in FF7 Rebirth?
You first meet Vincent in the basement of Shinra Manor in Nibelheim in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s Chapter 11: The Long Shadow of Shinra. Cloud and his party accidentally wake him up from his slumber while searching for clues, and, enraged, he bursts from his coffin (yes, he sleeps in a coffin) to confront the disturbance. I won’t spoil what happens, but it’s as epic as you’d expect.
But Vincent doesn’t join Cloud here. It’s only when leaving Nibelheim that he decides to pop along for the journey, to the surprise of everyone. In classic fashion, Cloud, Aerith, Tifa, Barret, Yuffie, and Red XIII accept the ex-Turk into the fold almost immediately, and he very quickly becomes a valuable member of the team.
Is Vincent Valentine a Vampire?
No, Vincent Valentine is not a vampire, despite sleeping in a coffin and having a complexion whiter than a sheet. In the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII lore, Vincent was experimented on by Professor Hojo after being shot, resulting in his half-dead state. He is very much human, though. Well, as human as you can be after coming out of the other side of one of Hojo’s unhinged experiments.
