How to Get Belle the Chocobo in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Compared to Piko, Belle’s one tough broad to catch. But if we want to give our poor feet a break and traverse the mountains walls of Junon faster than a slow crawl, she’s essential.

To unlock this quest, you must go to Gabe’s Ranch south of the city. Once there, speak to the shirtless man, who’ll tell you that his Chocbos aren’t for rent. And if we want to change his mind, we’ll need to help him get some parts for his carriage. And to do that, we’ll need a Junon-native Chocobo. In this case, Belle.

How to Capture Belle in FF7 Rebirth – Exact Location

Belle is located to the west of Gabe’s Ranch, on an abandoned farm overlooking the sea. Once you arrive, you’ll find yourself in a stealth minigame.

The gimmick behind it is simple on its face. You’ll need to activate the carts by pressing a button and then use them as cover to sneak around the Chocobo guards. Interact with the button near the entrance, then follow it forward, past the first Chocobo.

Make your way to the next car. Stand near its back end, then look back to the car you just used to sneak past the first Chocobo. Near that first car will be a second terminal. Throw the rock you’ve collected at the terminal. To do this, press and hold L1. You’ll see a blue arc with a circle at the end. The circle indicates where the rock will land. Place it so that the rock lands on top of the terminal.

Once you do this, the cart you’re hiding behind will edge forward. Follow it. If you feel like it’s going too fast, you can hold R2 to shuffle along faster. Using Circle to roll isn’t recommended, as you’re almost guaranteed to alert the Chocobo.

When the second cart reaches the end of its tracks, go left into the red weeds. To your left is Belle and in front of you is the next terminal. But before you activate, be aware that the cart will actually go down and to the right. So, hide behind the back right wheel and be prepared to follow it the long way around.

When you’re in a good position, throw the rock at the terminal.

This is where things will get tricky. You will need to weave around the cart to avoid being seen. Follow the cart normally until you’ve passed the carriage.

Once you have, go to the other side of the cart. This will let you pass by the next Chocobo.

Once you’ve passed this Chocobo and the next carriage, you’ll need to weave to the other side again.

This will allow you to approach Belle unseen. You’ll need to wait until you’re behind Belle to ambush her. Simply approach her and press Triangle.

When you do that, she’ll kick around a bit but settle down. You can now ride her to visit the wainwright and get the parts Gabe needs.

How to Get the Part for Gabe in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (FF7R)

Now that you have Belle, head towards the rock wall northeast of Gabe’s Ranch. Here, you’ll find a marked wall that Belle can climb up.

Do so, then keep right. This will lead you past the Chocobluff Lifespring, which is worth picking up while you’re here. Follow the path along, and you’ll soon find yourself at the Wainwright’s hut.

He’ll be sleeping inside, so wake him up. You have a few options, but none of them really matter. Instead, he’ll ask you to find the items on his list, all of which are driftwood. And to do that, of course, we’ll need to use Belle’s sense of smell. You technically only need one driftwood to complete this quest, but getting all three will give the quest three stars.

Fast Travel from the Wainwright’s cabin to either Gabe’s Ranch or Angler’s Stowage if you have that unlocked. You can open the Wainwright’s rough map by pressing the Left button on the D-Pad. Or you can use the map below.

There are three driftwood caches we’ll need to find. If you’ve come from Gabe’s Ranch, you just need to go straight until you hit a large fence. Follow this fence east until you see a break in it on the right. Go through this break and turn right, where you can reach the base of the large, rusted tower. You’ll encounter some flying enemies here, so fight them and take the treasure to the right of the tower.

Once have the first driftwood, go back through the break and follow the main path east. You’ll see a shack to your right. The second driftwood is beside the shack.

When you’ve gathered the second driftwood, go back on the main trail and follow it south, towards the farm where you found Belle. Halfway to the barn, Belle will prompt you with another red question mark bubble, and you’ll find the driftwood to the slight left of the trail.

When you have all three driftwoods, return to the Wainwright. He’ll make you three carriage pieces to bring back to Gabe. Return to Gabe and give him the goods. In exchange, he’ll give you the following:

  • 10 pieces of Condor Cedar.
  • 10 pieces of Mellow Oak.
  • 1 Queensguard Bangle.

But more importantly, you can now travel between the Junon region and the Grasslands without entering the mines. To do so, just speak to the stablehands at either Gabe’s or Bill’s Chocobo ranch to use this service for a mere 300 gil. And thus complete Stuck in a Rut.
