While some stats in Rogue Trader are laid out clearly, most of them are a little confusing to understand. Here’s what Rate of Fire is in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader.
What Does Rate of Fire Mean in Rogue Trader?
Rate of Fire is a stat on any ranged weapon that determines how many times it can fire in a single attack. This isn’t a note of how many times that weapon can attack in a round, but rather the amount of bullets used.
For example, the default Bolter that Argenta uses when you first get her has a Rate of Fire of 3. This means that when you use the Burst Fire ability of the weapon, it will fire three times. A Rate of Fire of 1 just means the weapon can’t fire in burst mode.
The base Rate of Fire value can not be changed through any means. The only way to increase your Rate of Fire is to get an entirely new weapon, which may not be a weapon of the same type. It’s also worth noting that using the Burst Fire setting on a weapon will take that many bullets out of the magazine. This means you’ll have to reload much faster, even if you’ll be dishing out damage much more quickly.
You may also notice for some weapons that a Recoil value is attached to the Rate of Fire. This essentially affects how many of your bullets will hit where you want them to go (the red zone of attacks). This is purely affected by the stat itself and not the name of weapons, so weapons with the Precise affix don’t dictate recoil. That’s related to ignoring enemy dodge stats.
