The Gith’yanki Creche is a pivotal point in Baldur’s Gate 3, Act One. Whether you’re trying to examine the artefact, continue Lae’zel’s quest or remove the tadpole in your mind, you will encounter the choice of siding with Vlaakith, the Lich Queen or killing the Dream Visitor, also known as your Guardian.
Should You Help Vlaakith or the Guardian in BG3?
You should not attack the Dream Visitor in Baldur’s Gate 3 when you enter the Astral Plane for the first time. When you enter the Astral Plane, simply speak to your Guardian and learn as much as you can about the tadpole in your head. For now, there is no danger, and more importantly, the Dream Visitor isn’t your main threat at the Creche.
Who is the Dream Visitor in BG3?
The Dream Visitor is a character in Baldur’s Gate 3 who is also known as your Guardian. They are a customizable character and will visit you during important parts of the story when you long rest. Whether they are friend or foe, they seemingly help protect you from the effects of the Mind Flayer tadpole while also sternly encourage you to use and embrace the tadpole’s powers.
Trusting them can be a little confusing, especially when the Guardian hides information from you in every one of their conversations. However, in some instances, it is a good thing to hear them out as they reveal important pieces of information that will guide you to choices in your playthrough.
What Happens if You Attack the Guardian in BG3?
Attacking the Guardian will have small consequences. When you attack them and they will fall to the ground, express that they cannot trust you then and recover. It was all a test.
The Guardian will then explain why Vlaakith should not be trusted and your decision of attacking them will result in the same outcome of not attacking them. Also, the decision to attack your Guardian will still end in you having to kill all of the Gith’yanki in the Creche.
What Happens if You Don’t Attack the Guardian in BG3?
If you do not attack the Guardian, you will sustain their trust in you and they will explain why Vlaakith is not to be sided with. The only gain here is that you can persuade Lae’zel to join you against her queen, Vlaakith.
What Happens if You Do Not Help Vlaakith?
We don’t recommend flat-out refusing to help Vlaakith. We tried that ourselves, and when we questioned her strength, we were instantly killed without as much as a cutscene. Agree to help Vlaakith, but don’t actually attack the Dream Visitor. The main reason we suggest not helping Vlaakith is she will ultimately betray.
Regardless of your choices or your party, Vlaakith will try to have you killed when you come back from the Astral Plane. Even Lae’zel will help you escape the Creche and kill anyone that remains inside. Vlaakith never had your best interest in mind, and as far as we can tell, the Dream Visitor is protecting us from the effects of the Mind Flayer tadpole in Baldur’s Gate 3.
You can always use the save scum method and test out both outcomes, but this point in the game won’t have too many major consequences. And regardless of what you choose, the Lich Queen will stab you in the back.
