Can You Kill The Beast Monster in Amnesia: The Bunker? – Answered

Murderer or Pacifist?

The Beast is one of the few different enemies you will be facing in Amnesia: The Bunker, and in hindsight, it seems that you cannot do anything to it. You may have tried shooting all of your ammo at it, tossing grenades, Molotov cocktails, blowing up explosive barrels next to it, tossing gas grenades and bricks, but the best you managed to do is to scare it away, only for it to come back with vengeance for you a couple of minutes later. So, is there a way to actually kill the Beast and put it to rest? Find out below.

How to Kill the Beast Monster in Amnesia: The Bunker

It is, indeed, possible to kill the Beast (or Stalker, as some players call it for various reasons) in Amnesia: The Bunker, but you can only do it in a few specific ways that I’ve discovered through very painful trial and error. You’ve guessed it, this is about the final encounter, the final boss fight.

It will be stressful to get the timing right in most cases (just look at the stressful blur in the feature image of this article) but it’s definitely doable. Here’s what you need to do. Alexa, play Megadeth – 99 Ways to Die!

Method #1 to Kill the Beast Monster in Amnesia: The Bunker – “Pulling the Rug”

The bridges in the final encounter are randomly set, and you should be looking for the wooden ones because they are breakable. Now, when you find such a bridge, you should set up a trap, or be very, very good with timing. In all cases, you need to lure the Beast to the bridge and destroy the bridge while the Beast is either standing on it, walking over it, or rushing over it to conduct a chiropractic treatment on your neck. No, do not use your Shotgun to blast the bridge under its legs. In that case, The Beast becomes Neo from The Matrix and instantly jumps forward or backward to safety. You’ll need a Grenade for this. Luckily, in the final encounter, you should be seeing some ammo, a grenade, and a fuel can.

  1. Easy Method – Grab the bunny toy and toss it on the wooden bridge (around the middle, I’d say). When the Beast comes to pick it up and inspect it (it will stop even if it’s sprinting toward you), you should toss a Grenade at the bridge. GG.
  2. Medium Method – If you failed to get the bunny toy, you need to time your Grenade explosion so that the Beast is on the wooden bridge at the time of the explosion.
  3. Tryhard Method – This is outright sadistic, and I discovered this while testing the behavior of the Beast in my many attempts to kill it. Check out the image at the top of the article again. The Beast is stuck between two fires and is standing still. You can pour gasoline on one end of the bridge, walk to the other side, wait for the Beast to start running towards you, and then toss a Molotov cocktail in front of you so that you stop it in its tracks, and then quickly take out a revolver and ignite the fuel puddle you left on the other end toward which the Beast is running for safety. The Beast will stand still as long as the fires are there, so you have all the time in the world to dispose of the Beast with a Grenade.

Method #2 to Kill the Beast Monster in Amnesia: The Bunker – “Show No Mercy”

This method is prone to randomness, but it’s doable. You should use your Shotgun to break as many Wooden Bridges as you can, but only one-half of it (it doesn’t matter which). Do not worry, you can sprint and jump across that gap you just made. In the same way that you need to lift yourself up in order to overcome the gap – the Beast needs to as well, and that’s the moment when you strike.

Please understand that this is very prone to randomness. It will take a while until the Beast decides to chase you over this gap, instead of going all the way around. You can try to “force” the Beast into this behavior by closing all other passages (some bridges can be lifted up from one side) and just leaving half of one wooden bridge as the only way to get to you. If you do not get an acceptable layout of bridges, load your most recent save and try entering the encounter again.

As soon as you get the Beast to cling onto the ledge, shoot at it. It will be stunned and it will fall to its demise. GG.

There you go! That’s how you can kill the Beast and earn both of the endings in Amnesia: The Bunker. If you’re a pacifist, but you’re scared of getting killed by the Beast, you can also (if possible, due to the random layout of the bridges) lure the Beast to your starting location, and then run like hell towards the Beast’s starting location. At that point, you will disable all three bridges leading to the end, leaving the Beast trapped in the cave. You either need to lift them or completely destroy them, so basically just disable two before this maneuver to make it easier, and disable the third after you cross it, and make your way to safety without a worry in the world.
