Grenade launchers are having their moment in Lightfall. With buffs across the board to both bosses and rank-and-file enemies, you’d be criminally amiss to skip out on adding one to your inventory. And Lingering Dread is easily one of the best grenade launchers around. Here’s how to get Lingering Dread and its God Roll in Destiny 2.

It’s unfortunate, but appropriate that some of the best guns in Destiny 2 require you to get involved with end game content. And for the Lightweight Frame legendary kinetic Grenade Launcher, Lingering Dread, that means taking on the Dungeon Duality.

Unfortunately, Duality is a rotating dungeon that’s also not farmable. Fortunately, you don’t have to go very far: Lingering Dread is a potential drop from the very first encounter chest. If it fails to drop at that point, you’ll have to switch characters and complete the dungeon again… or wait until Duality comes back.

If you’re trying to farm out God Rolls, Duality has two secret chests, with the first being in the room with all the statues you have to turn. The second is after you complete the second encounter and complete the jumping puzzle.

These three potential drop zones are your only chance to farm out a God Roll, as Lingering Dread is not farmable. But what even is Lingering Dread’s God Roll?

While Lingering Dread performs well in PvP, it’s absolutely vicious in PvE as a crowd control weapon. And it’s perfect if you don’t want to waste an Exotic slot on Witherhoard.

• Basic Launcher Barrel → Quick Launch. Velocity +10, Handling +15.
• Basic Magazine → Disorienting Grenades. Detonation has a brief disorienting effect.
• Basic Trait 1 → Ambitious Assassin. Overflows the magazine based on the number of rapid kills before reloading.
• Basic Trait 2 → Chill Clip. Direct hits with the top half of the magazine cause a detonation that slows nearby targets.

The reason this works so well is because Lingering Dread is a Stasis weapon capable of freezing mobs and because Chill Clip considers the “top half of the magazine” to be the magazine’s base size, not the size influenced by Ambitious Assassin.

It works even better if you manage to find one with a Reload Masterwork, but that isn’t necessary, just nice.
