How to Get Aromatic Jerky in Octopath Traveler 2

Cute name, terrible fate

Ochette is certainly one of the most interesting members of the gang. She’s essentially a thirteen year cat girl, chosen by the Narnia lion to save the world. And she does that in two ways: by capturing Pokemon monsters and befriending people with jerky. And one of those friends requires something special: Aromatic Jerky. Here’s how to get Aromatic Jerky in Octopath Traveler 2.

As part of Ochette’s journey, you’ll find yourself in Crackridge, a town beset by earthquakes. Ochette knows that Tear is hidden somewhere nearby, but everyone is too terrified to tell her where the titan is. Except for one famished lad who will happily trade that information for one thing: Aromatic Jerky.

Fortunately, we’re in precisely the right place to find such a jerky.

There are dozens of unique monsters in Octopath Traveler 2, but only one drops Aromatic Jerky. And that’s the Buttermeep. The Buttermeep is essentially an adorable pig, and in his infinite cruelty, the lad asks you to hunt and capture one to turn into jerky.

Head West of town and start walking up and down the path along Western Crackridge Wilds. Buttermeep can appear during the day and night, usually in packs. But you won’t need the extra chances these additional Buttermeep provide. So long as you don’t immediately kill the pig, Ochette’s Capture skill has a very high success rate.

Once you capture the Buttermeep, you’ll have the choice of keeping it around or turning it into jerky. Turn it into jerky to get the Aromatic Jerky, then promptly take it back to the famished lad.

Apparently, the jerky is so good he’ll decide that he wants to become a hunter, then a farmer. Those poor Buttermeep.
