Sega battled Nintendo head-to-head in the famous 16-bit war that pitted the Genesis against the SNES, respectively. Then the publisher fell out of favor with its fans due to questionable decisions and hardware, most notably the 32X and the decision to surprise launch the Saturn in the U.S.
Thankfully, Sega held strong with the Dreamcast system (its final console), which debuted September 9, 1999. The console is so beloved that players routinely look forward to and celebrate its anniversary. Chalk that up to perhaps the most memorable release date in history (no one really remembers when Sony launched the PS2, or Microsoft the OG Xbox) and a wealth of quality games that welcomed everyone to the next level.
That said, and because we’re crazy fans, we posted a video of the 10 greatest Dreamcast games. Let us know what you think of the list, and feel free to share your own personal top 10.
On a side note, we left import titles off the list, just in case you can’t believe we forgot about Ikaruga. Of course we didn’t forget. It’s amazing!
