Xbox Gold Pass subscribers already have a lot to look forward to this month, but for everyone else, there are a plethora of Xbox August game releases to keep even the most diehard fans occupied. While there aren’t a whole ton of exclusives to the platform rearing their head, this is still going to be a big month of AAA additions to long-standing franchises for those who have been waiting with bated breath for some time now. Check out our list of every single game being released in August for the Xbox console.
August Game Releases Guide — Xbox

The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan (30 August)
Some highlights of the list above include the much-anticipated Control, an upcoming third-person action-adventure shooter from the team at Remedy of Alan Wake and Max Payne fame. Control was shown off to much aplomb at E3 earlier this year, so there’s definitely a fair amount of hype surrounding this game. We personally can’t wait to step into heroine Jesse’s shoes as a secret agent tasked with investigating unusual phenomena.
Blair Witch has been doing the rounds as well after a surprise reveal at this year’s E3. Bloober, famous for making Observer and Layers of Fear, will be pushing this title out to the masses later this month. Blair Witch is going to be a first-person survival horror game, which means lots of thrills, spills, and scares. If you’re familiar with the Blair Witch franchise, then you might already be anticipating a whole lot of spooky shenanigans coming your way. With the experience that the development team has behind the title, we’re sure that you won’t be disappointed.
The Xbox August game releases are definitely plentiful, and there’s something for everyone no matter what genre you’re into. There’s a couple of dark horses on the list too like The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan and Remnant: From the Ashes which could do spectacularly if the hum around them on social media currently is anything to go by. We’ll add any stealth releases to the list as the month goes on so check back if you’re unsure whether or not something is going to pop up sometime soon!
