Will Resident Evil 4 Remake Be on PS4 and Xbox One? – Answered

Can you play the survival horror remake on older hardware?

The remake of the iconic Resident Evil 4 is fast approaching, set to grace our screens on March 24. With players stepping back into the shoes of the iconic Leon Kennedy, you’ll adventure to the unique local of rural Spain to save the US President’s daughter from an evil cult. Before you can do that, you’ll need to make sure the game is coming to your desired platform. Last-gen consoles tend to be a major part of that discussion as of late. Here is whether Resident Evil 4 Remake will be on either PS4 or Xbox One.

Is Resident Evil 4 Remake Coming to PlayStation 4 or Xbox One?

We’re a few years now into the current-gen console’s lifecycle, though due to many supply issues caused by the pandemic (not to mention economic turmoil), not many people have gotten their hands on the newer hardware. As of late, that has changed with both consoles becoming more readily available from the normal storefronts. This has given more freedom to developers to focus their efforts on stronger hardware since they can still drive a ton of sales.

It’s because of that that Resident Evil 4 Remake will not release on PS4 or Xbox One. While that is sad for people who don’t have the new hardware yet, it’s a natural progression for the industry. We need games to look and play better than they did before, and you do get that on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The previous consoles would either require some massive compromises to be made or for the game itself to be downgraded. It would be a huge loss on both fronts, so this is the better option.

While it’s not the same experience, you can at least enjoy the previous iteration of the game on older consoles. It won’t have all the bells and whistles of the Resident Evil 4 Remake, but there are a lot of great reasons that the original is still considered one of the best survival horror games of all time. Just like Dead Space, which also got a remake recently that you can read about in our guide.
