When you draw a Venn diagram of fans of Dead by Daylight and Five Nights at Freddy’s, it can look a bit like a circle unless you squint and look really close. It feels like every few months, a new post in the Dead by Daylight community pops up pleading for a Dead by Daylight and Five Nights at Freddy’s crossover. Some dedicated fans have even made character models and Moris, which were honestly fantastic. But will it ever happen?
The answer, unfortunately, is no one knows. Developers from both Dead by Daylight and Five Nights at Freddy have been silent on the subject. But silence doesn’t mean that it won’t happen, as many licensed killers were shrouded in secrecy before their big reveal.
In a question and answers thread on Reddit, Dead by Daylight Creative Director Dave Richard stated the following:
“Well well, I’m not saying this is a lie, but the fact we said we would only do humanoid was not a design philosophy but more because of technical/scope limitations at that time. If you’ve been with us for a while, you probably remember us saying we’d put Christine (the car) and Cujo (the dog) in DBD if we could. Every worthy bloodthirsty creature has a space in the world of The Entity!
So what allowed us to do so? We leveled up! The team is bigger, more experienced all thanks to the growth of the community of course! Characters with different structures are definitely going to happen again as we continue to explore more possibilities in DBD.

Richard’s answer means that there’s a chance that certain unique but visually complex characters, like Springtrap, might one day make it to the Fog. But only time will tell.
