Diablo 4 Season Renown Not Carrying Over

Why is Diablo 4 Season 2 Renown Not Carrying Over? Explained

Something's actually working on here this time

The second season of Diablo 4 has finally arrived after a few unexpected delays. Aside from the usual balance changes and updates to general classes and systems, a very important change was made to Renown, which should now be carried over between all characters in your account. Some players have reported that this wasn’t happening, though. Did they manage to screw this up at the season’s release or is it working properly as it should?

Diablo 4 Season 2 Renown Carry Over Explained

The carry over system is working as intended, despite not looking exactly like that initially. As mentioned in the October 17th patch notes, all rewards obtained with Renown levels are instantly carried over between new seasons and new characters, and you’ll have instant access to them from the moment you start a new journey.

Account-wide rewards will be obtained as soon as you enter with your new characters. While this doesn’t include the bonus experience and Gold attached to them, the unique rewards will be automatically available for you to use. Completing Renown for a region grants you:

  • 2 Skill Points
  • One extra Potion charge
  • 80 Obols Capacity
  • 4 Paragon points

If your Renown screen looks anything like that with the green checkmarks on the important loot, it means that your Renown rewards were successfully carried over to your whole account.

You can increase your Renown level by completing exploring activities in each region such as discovering Lilith’s Altars, completing Strongholds and dungeons, advancing through quests and unlocking Waypoints. These will all give you some extra points for Renown, and all of their benefits such as extra Stat points will immediately be available for your account.

This greatly alleviates the stress of having to grind for these bonuses every time you’re rolling for a new character. While the extra experience and Gold would also be greatly appreciated, they’re not as important as those other perks that are now permanently available for your delight. This will be a huge help in your grind for new features such as the Seeker Keys obtained through the Blood Hunts.
