Why Are Some of My Heroes Locked in Overwatch 2 and Can I Fix This? – Explained

Oops!

Overwatch 2 can’t seem to catch a break, with various problems riddling the game since day. Just as we thought that things were finally going well, players found out about a bug with Bastion that allowed them to fire an infinite amount of ultimate shots. Blizzard reacted promptly and removed Bastion and Torbjorn from the game temporarily (sent them to the Workshop™) and accidentally locked two-thirds of the hero roster for everyone – oops. The Internet has gone wild with complaints of their characters being locked in OW2 and everyone is asking how to fix it. Here’s everything you need to know about heroes being locked in Overwatch 2.

How To Solve the Overwatch 2 Locked Heroes Bug?

One of the ways that you may be able to remedy this issue on consoles is to perform the Account Merge. When you log in to Overwatch 2 on your console (whether it’s a PlayStation, Xbox, or Switch), you should get the option to start the Account Merge. You’ll see a QR code that you’ll need to scan with your mobile so that the merge process can start. Then all you have to do is to follow the instructions on your device.

On PC you need to go to the Official Battle.net Website and then to Account Management, and there, on the left-hand side, you will see the “Connections” option. Here, you can manage your connections and make sure everything’s set up properly.

Another way to attempt to fix this is to log out from Battle.net and log back in again. Since this is a database issue, the intention of this action is to trigger a re-sync.

The last things that you can try are to wait for Blizzard to roll out a patch to fix it or to open a support ticket in hopes that the support team will find a way to manually resolve it for you, though keep in mind that there are thousands of people opening tickets so response time may not be fast.
