Which Path Should You Pick in Lies of P? – Answered

One path to rule them all

The very first choice you’ll have to make in Lies of P is surprisingly not related to lies in any way. No, it’s which path you will follow at the beginning of the game. Each of them has their pros and cons, and here’s everything you need to know about them.

What Are Paths in Lies of P?

At the beginning of the game, you’ll have to choose between three different paths: Path of the Cricket, Path of the Bastard, and Path of the Sweeper. This choice affects your combat style and your attributes at the beginning of the game but has no influence on the story in general.

Your weapon of choice defines combat in this game, and you get access to more of these later. As for your stats, you can freely customize them later when leveling up, so you can play in any way you want, regardless of your chosen path.

Sweeper is the classic soulslike Claymore playstyle, favoring heavy weapons that hit slow but hard. Bastard is the opposite, featuring a rapier-focused combat style with various sequential hits. Cricket combines the best of both worlds, giving you a regular sword as a starting weapon and having no particular specialization.

Which Path You Should Get in Lies of P?

While the answer is ultimately personal, the Path of the Cricket is the best choice if you’re in doubt. Sword gameplay is easy to grasp and quite effective against most enemies. Dodging and Perfect Guarding won’t be hard either, thanks to your balanced stats, and you’ll find yourself having a relatively good window for punishing enemies.

Since all paths can equip all types of weapons, Cricket is the best for testing them all at the beginning of the game and finding your favorite. Transitioning from a light weapon build to a heavy weapon one with Bastard would not be challenging, but it would be way easier with Cricket.

Regardless, you should pick the path you like the most. If you love being strong and unmovable as a rock, Sweeper is your choice. But if you’re more into rapid combo attacks, you might have a blast playing with Bastard.

Can You Change Paths in Lies of P?

No, you can’t change your path. This choice is permanent once you do it, so no test-driving the weapons before settling for your favorite. You can buy the other weapons quite early in the game, though.

After reaching the second Stargazer, next to the Parade Master boss arena, you’ll find a merchant. This merchant sells all three initial weapons for only 300 Ergo each, which effectively counts as “changing paths.” Your stats won’t change, but you can freely level the ones that suit you the most by leveling up.
