Where to Find the Echo of Malphas in Diablo 4

The Uber Loom

All of the main bosses at the end of a season have an Uber variant for players to chase in Diablo 4, and for Season 3, that means finding the Echo of Malphas. To help you get some of the best rewards on the Seneschal, I’ll cover exactly where the Echo of Maphas is hiding.

What is Echo of Malphas in Diablo 4?

Echo of Malphas is a souped-up version of the main boss you face during Diablo 4’s Season 3 campaign, Season of the Construct. He’s level 100, and you’ll only be able to encounter him on World Tier 4 after completing the Season 3 story questline. Because of the difficulty of the fight, you should only face Echo of Malphas after reaching level 100 yourself and optimizing your build and gear.

Where is Uber Malphas Located in Diablo 4?

You can find the Echo of Malphas at the end of the Vault of the Loom dungeon on World Tier 4 or Torment difficulty. The Vault of the Loom is located on the south side of the Gatehall in between two smaller portals. Even in the lower World Tiers of Sanctuary, the Vault Keeper boss is always at the end of the Vault of the Loom dungeon as a final culmination of all four trap rooms. For the echo variant, though, you need to have some additional resources on hand just like any other Uber boss in Diablo 4.

Just like the other Uber versions of bosses, the Echo of Malphas needs to be summoned with extra materials such as the new Igneous Cores before the fight can begin. Simply waltzing through all the traps and opening the boss entrance won’t be enough. At the altar for the boss, you need to place 7 Igneous Cores and 250 Shattered Stone for the fight to begin. Then Pearls of Warding can be used for the stacks bonus to receive the best rewards from a Wardwoven Chest.

I highly recommend using at least five or six Pearls of Warding as you get used to the Uber variant of Malphas. While the fight is fun, it’s really all about the reward, and he’s going to throw plenty of trap damage at you. Having the extra warding can save you a headache against this Vault Keeper.

How to Summon the Echo of Malphas:

To summon Echo of Malphas,

  • Enter the Vault of the Loom on World Tier 4.
  • Reach the end of the dungeon.
  • Bring seven Igneous Cores and 250 Shattered Stone to the Altar.
  • Use Pearls of Warding for the stacks bonus.
  • Summon the boss.

When you take on Echo of Malphas, there are some special rewards in store for those who can win. There are only two different Unique Tuning Stones in Diablo 4 Season 3 that can only be earned by defeating this boss. Although they aren’t guaranteed as a drop, it’s still worth grinding out for the best Seneschal possible.

Once you’re done with Echo of Malphas, there are still all the other bosses from Season 2 in the end game. So make sure to save all your materials as you put your latest character to the test. You’ll want to grind out as many bosses as you can if you plan on target farming any uniques for your current builds.

How to Beat Malphas in Diablo 4

To beat Malphas, you need to destroy the conduits that appear in the arena and prepare to dodge constant trap attacks throughout the fight. The boss will use four different elements that appear in the other Vaults: Ice, red lightning, poison, and fire. With each new phase, an elemental conduit will appear that you need to destroy if you don’t want to be bombarded by arena-filling attacks.

At the very least, Malphas is immobile and will sit in the center of the arena for the entire fight. Dodging trap attacks and dishing out damage at the same time is the true challenge. Once you master the patterns, the Echo of Malphas will be a walk in the park.

Grigoire could be next on the boss list within his Hall of the Penitent hiding spot.
