In the world of ARK, it is important to gather resources and survive, but nothing makes it easier to navigate around the vast world of the game like flying mounts. If flying dinosaurs bore you, ARK Fjordur also brings a giant flying bat – ideal for stealthy night flying. Desmodus is the large prehistoric bat that appears in the game as an enemy mob, but can also be tamed if you happen to find it. Check below to find out where to locate Desmodus in ARK.
Where to Find the Desmodus in ARK Survival Evolved?
In order to catch and tame Desmodus, you first need to find him on the map. Like most bats, these giant species like to hang in caves. Whip out your GPS device in the game and go to the following coordinates to find the best location for hunting and taming Desmodus:
- Latitude: Between 86.03 and 90
- Longitude: 78
Fjordur Map: Desmodus Location
In this location, you will find the cave with purple crystals glowing inside, where the wild Desmodus spawn. Before you go in there, make sure you have the blood packs you will need to attract the bat. Since you will most likely run into a whole flock of Desmodus, and you only need one, you will have to eliminate the others – so before venturing into the cave also make sure you have a weapon at hand, ideally a harpoon with some nets as well.
Taming a Desmodus in ARK Survival Evolved
When you find the Desmodus colony in a cave, use the usual gadgets to check everyone’s levels, and when you decide who you want to tame, get rid of the others with a harpoon. When you are in a 1-on-1 skirmish with your future mount, take care of your health while monitoring progress on the taming scale, if you are persistent enough (and have enough health items), Desmodus will be tamed and you will get yourself a brand new flying mount.
Now that you know how to find and tame Desmodus, it’s time to get your bat wings! Go capture one and enjoy flying at night in ARK Fjordur.
