How to Download XDefiant

As of right now, the only way to download and play XDefiant is via Ubisoft Connect. You can play the game completely free by accessing the Ubisoft Store and then adding the title to your account. From there, go to your game library and download XDefiant. Once the download finishes, boot up the game and enjoy yourself!

On PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, visit your console’s store and search for XDefiant. From the storage page, add the game to your account and download it. Once finished, launch it from the menu and start playing.

Currently, there’s no word on whether XDefiant will launch on Steam. Many will likely wait for a Steam release, however, before giving the free-to-play competitive shooter a fair shake.

Game Modes in XDefiant

In total, you’ll have access to five unique and thrilling game modes in XDefiant. These include:

  • Domination: A control-based game mode in which your team must hold three objectives around the map to win.
  • Hot Shot: When you land a kill, the enemy drops a dog tag that you must collect to score.
  • Occupy: All teams fight over a single zone to score, and the zone itself remains on a timer. When the timer ends, a new zone spawns.
  • Escort: The attacking team must assault a single objective while the defending team secures the objective in a back-and-forth battle.
  • Zone Control: Both teams fight over five objectives on the map, and points accumulate the longer zones are held.
