Where is Ranked Play in COD MW2 Season 3? – Answered

Regardless of the season, confusion and bugs are always expected with a fresh update in Call of Duty and the same applies to Modern Warfare 2. With the launch of Season 3, many players are running into problems with Ranked Play, whether it’s the ranks themselves or finding the mode entirely.

When you opened up the Multiplayer menu for COD MW2 in the previous season, the competitive playlist was always available to find in the featured or standard playlists. However, it seems to have disappeared altogether and we’ll cover that in our guide.

Treyarch has released an update on Twitter saying that Ranked Play will be disabled for the time being until Season 02 – Season 3 transition issues are resolved. Updated 2:26 pm ET on April 12, 2023.

Ranked Play has been enabled and is back to normal. Updated 7:52 ET on April 12, 2023.

COD MW2 Season 3 – Why is Ranked Play Gone?

The disappearance of Ranked Play in the Modern Warfare 2 menus doesn’t seem like an intentional addition to the latest season. Based on the patch notes, there was no mention of the removal of the mode for any reason, and some players are already starting a new grind. We may just have to wait for a hotfix.

That doesn’t change the issues though. Infinity Ward also has a Trello Board where they detail issues with the game and there is a known issue with Ranked Division visuals in Season 3, but still no mention of Ranked Play disappearing in COD MW2. For the time being, it’s likely an aggravating bug that players will have to wait for a solution to.

Infinity Ward tends to tweet out that they are aware of prevalent issues in the game, especially at launch. Their Twitter has also been silent though. There are plenty of new rewards to earn in Season 3 of Ranked Play, so let’s hope players can get started on that soon. In the meantime, all we can do is continue restarting the game in the hopes that a hotfix was implemented.
