This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Thanks to the Animal Crossing: New Horizons July summer update, pirate Gulliver will now start washing up on the shores of your island. Similar to normal Gulliver, players can help the bird get back to his boat by assisting him with some tasks. Specifically, the Animal Crossing: New Horizons pirate Gulliver will ask you to help him find his lost Nook Phone. However, to do that, you’ll first need to know where to find pirate Gulliver in New Horizons.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Pirate Gulliver – Location, Nook Phone, Rewards

There is no consistent way to find pirate Gulliver in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, as he is capable of washing up on your shore any day starting at 5 AM. The best way to locate him is to walk the beaches of your island once or twice a day to see if he has appeared. Additionally, since his tasks require swimming, you’ll need to have purchased a wetsuit before he will appear. Further, when you do find him, he likely won’t show up again for another week or two.

When you do finally manage to find pirate Gulliver in New Horizons, try to speak to him multiple times and eventually he will wake up and ask you to help him find his missing NookPhone. It appears that when he went overboard on his ship he dropped his phone somewhere in the water and needs it to call for help. So, put on your wetsuit and begin swimming around the ocean until you see a small shadow in the water that isn’t moving. Simply press Y to dive here and you’ll have a chance of coming up with the phone in hand. You may not get it on your first try, but usually it only takes three or four dives to find it.

With pirate Gullivers Nook Phone in hand, return it to him and he will reward you with either a pirate-themed piece of clothing or furniture. Further, every time you help him, you can visit the Recycle Bin to collect a Rusted Part. Additionally, if you find his phone but don’t return it to him, you can collect five Rusted Parts from the bin the next day, but you won’t get your pirate themed item.

There are a total of 19 pirate Gulliver rewards that players can receive, and typically you won’t get duplicate items until you’ve completed the whole set. Additionally, if you help pirate Gulliver (or regular Gulliver) a total of 30 times, you’ll be gifted a Golden Shovel for your troubles. However, since he only shows up once every 1-2 weeks, this could take a while.
