When is the Starfield Creation Kit Coming Out? – Answered

Starfield is now available worldwide on PC and Xbox Series X|S, and not just in early access. Finally, those who bought the standard edition can get deep into the first new IP from Bethesda in 25 years, and it holds a lot of promise. With a new Bethesda game available, naturally, there’s going to be a massive modding community ready to bring everything people are asking for. However, there’s only so much they can do without direct modding support. Here’s when the Starfield Creation Kit is coming out.

When Will the Starfield Creation Kit Release?

Sadly, Bethesda hasn’t provided an exact date for the Starfield Creation Kit’s release. Instead, the only concrete thing we have to go off is the word of Pete Hines, the senior VP of Marketing and Communications at Bethesda. During the most recent Gamescom this August, Hines said that there would be official mod support from the team. However, that support would be post-launch. Without any concrete timeframe given, it’s hard to guess when it will be available to the public.

With that being said, we can use the launch of the last Creation Kit for Fallout 4 as a reference. Fallout 4 launched in November of 2015, with the Creation Kit debuting about six months later in April. If things are progressing about as quickly, then we might see the Creation Kit’s launch in March of 2024. If we’re lucky, we might see it by Christmas time instead. Keep in mind that the above is pure speculation though, and we could see it sooner or later.

What is the Starfield Creation Kit?

The Starfield Creation Kit is an editor for Starfield that allows much more direct access to the game’s Creation Engine, something that is impossible to do at launch. With this tool, modders can craft new planets, missions, weapons, dialogue, and many other bits of content that otherwise aren’t possible. If you want to get into modding yourself, it’s a difficult editor to pick up but can be rewarding once you know what you’re doing.
