Here’s everything we know about when the Stardew Valley 1.6 update is coming to Nintendo Switch.
When is Stardew Valley’s 1.6 Update Coming to Nintendo Switch?
There is currently no official release date for the Nintendo Switch version of the Stardew Valley 1.6 update. According to Stardew Valley creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, the console and mobile release for the Stardew Valley 1.6 update “will follow [the PC release date of March 19] as soon as possible.” This statement was made on Barone’s Twitter account on February 26, 2024 as part of the 1.6 update’s PC release date announcement. Since then, there have been no official announcements or even estimations on the 1.6 update’s Nintendo Switch—or other consoles and mobile—release date, even though the update is now available for PC.
How Long Do Stardew Valley Updates Usually Take to Come to Nintendo Switch?
Previous Stardew Valley updates have initially released on PC with the console versions, including Nintendo Switch, receiving the updates a month or two later. This gives the PC version the opportunity to receive any hotfixes and other unplanned changes first since PC patches are generally easier to implement. Once everything is ready to go, the finalized update can go live on consoles and mobile.
The following table lists a few examples of Stardew Valley updates and the differences in their release dates across PC and Nintendo Switch.
Stardew Valley Update | PC Release Date | Nintendo Switch Release Date |
1.5.4 | January 22, 2021 | February 11, 2021 |
1.4.3 | December 13, 2019 | January 10, 2020 |
1.3 | November 19, 2018 | December 12, 2018 |
Although it isn’t confirmed, there’s a good chance the Stardew Valley 1.6 update will release on Nintendo Switch in April 2024, or May 2024 at the latest. The 1.6 update is one of the biggest yet, which may mean the wait will be on the longer side, but looking at the intensive patch notes and new achievements, it will definitely be worth the wait.
