Sonic Origins has arrived! The collection of remastered classic 2D Sonic games is finally released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Series X|S, PC (via Steam and Epic), and Nintendo Switch. There is no better way to re-experience classic games like Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Sonic CD, and Sonic The Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, in the new “Anniversary Mode” of Sonic Origins. But what about the download size? Do the new FMV animations take up space in this retro release? Find out below.
What is the Total Download File Size of Sonic Origins?
The regular edition of Sonic Origins for Nintendo Switch comes at a reasonable 3.5GB file size, while the Digital Deluxe version comes with extra content and requires 3.8GB of free space.
The PlayStation 4 / PlayStation 5 version of Sonic Origins is around 6GB. There is no information on the size of the Xbox/PC version but it is most likely in the same neighborhood.
Being a small 2D retro release, it doesn’t matter if you install the game on an SSD or HDD if you’re playing on PlayStation 5 / Xbox Series consoles or on a PC with an SSD. Wherever you install on Sonic Origins, the load will generally be instantaneous.
As there are currently no plans for the physical release of the game, digital versions are the only choice right now on all platforms. Yet with so little space needed to download and install it, there is no doubt that players on all systems will have no problem finding free space for Sonic Origins.
Whichever system you decide to play this great collection, you will have a blast! So don’t waste your time, don’t calculate the free space, and just go and get it already. You can thank us later.
