Assault Rifles have always been the most versatile weapons on Fortnite, whether we’re back in the very first season or in the latest Chapter 4 island. With so many options to choose from at this point, it can be hard to tell which one is right for you, or which one is considered the best.
What the community considers the best and what you find most effective for you in Fortnite Chapter 4 can always vary. Preference is always a factor in a battle royale. But using the right Assault Rifle can make or break a good victory royale. We’ll answer which weapon is truly the best in Chapter 4 and why you should prioritize that AR.
Fortnite Chapter 4 – What is the Best Assault Rifle?
At this point in the latest Chapter, there is a clear winner for best Assault Rifle. The Red-Eye Assault Rifle is a must-have weapon if you want to decimate the lobby at medium to long range. There are a couple of reasons why this weapon is a clear meta pick, starting with the bullet velocity and accuracy. Each shot goes down range almost instantly and can connect with perfect accuracy. Players won’t need to worry about bullet deviation.
Both of the third-person ADS Assault Rifles have tons of bloom or bullet deviation. At least the Scar Assault Rifle can melt enemies at a closer range in Fortnite. On the other hand, the Burst Assault Rifle will lose in close quarters or at range. Simply put, the Red-Eye is too good when there is no sniper to counter the instant shots, precision sight, and high damage. Close-quarters also isn’t a problem when players can just carry a shotgun or an SMG.

Two other rifles that have scopes are the Tactical AR and the DMR. The Tactical AR is harder to get and doesn’t hit nearly as hard at range. It faces the same problem as the Scar. The DMR will hit harder than the Red-Eye can in Fortnite Chapter 4, but the bullet velocity is incredibly slow. Good luck out shooting a player carrying the Red-Eye when you have a DMR. You owe it to yourself and your squad to master the slow-firing AR that currently reigns supreme on the island.
