Vex Core Analyzed Destiny 2 Guide: How to Analyze A Vex Core

Wanting to pick up Divinity but getting stuck on the Vex Core Analyzed Destiny 2 objective? We've got some tips and tricks that should ease the way.
This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

If you’ve been on the hunt for the Divinity Exotic trace rifle in Destiny 2: Shadowkeep, then you’ll know that one of the steps required to unlock the weapon is to analyze Vex cores that you find in the overworld. However, it’s not as easy as you think. Not only do you have to find these Vex cores, but you also have to ensure that you fulfill the Vex Core Analyzed criteria required by the quest objective. We’ve got some tips on how to tick both steps off your checklist.

Vex Core Analyzed Destiny 2 Guide: How to Analyze A Vex Core

The Vex Core Analyzed step is part of the overall Divine Fragmentation quest chain needed to obtain the Divinity Exotic weapon. Once you’ve completed the first portion of the chain, you’ll be tasked with the objective of analyzing a Vex Core. Easier said than done, since you might find after hours of scouting around that you actually can’t find any of those cores on the moon.

If you want to get a Vex core analyzed, you’re going to have to first loot three of them from Nessus. You can pick up a core per Lost Sector, and we have a list below on how exactly you can do that in each Lost Sector below:

  • Ancient’s Haunt – if you’re headed here, then you’re going to want to start out from Artifact’s Edge. Path due east when you’re at the Tangle and you’ll find a cave opening where you can kill a ton of Vex. Once you put them down, head to the left side of where you’ve been massacring enemies and you’ll see a glowing item – the Core – in one of the many caves leading off the main path. Get rid of the foes around it and interact with the Core to analyze it.
  • The Conflux – to get here, start out from the Cistern and head to the landmark waterfall in the area. There’ll be some cabal wandering around a small opening near the bottom of the waterfall, and you’re going to want to swoop in there and hang right to find a secret room. Enter it to put down more Vex and you’ll find a Core inside to interact with.
  • The Orrery – strike out again from Artifact’s Edge, and you’ll probably remember seeing Vex milling around an orange landmark. Underneath that layer of the map is the Orrery Lost Sector. Head down and put more Vex six feet under while pathing west. You’re going to want to keep your eyes peeled while you’re climbing the stone for a room that you can enter which will house the clearly-glowing Core. Enter the room, dispatch more Vex, and analyze the Core.

Once the game registers that you’ve carried out the Vex Core Analyzed Destiny 2 objective, it’ll progress into the next part of the quest which will involve (you guessed it) more cores. Want to know how the rest of Divine Fragmentation will pan out? We have a guide for that too so getting Divinity is as easy as we can make it.
