This article is over 8 years old and may contain outdated information

Before you can move on in Tyranny and take down the citadel at Vendrien’s Well, you’re going to need to prepare your forces and take down Echocall Crossing. In this article we’ll show you how to complete the side quest, Taking the Outer Valley, which will allow you to take Echocall Crossing much more easily.

Visit the Scarlet Chorus Camp

Before you head to Echocall Crossing, you’ll first need to make a stop at the Scarlet Chorus Camp, which just happens to be right along the path. Head to the nearest map marker and travel to the Scarlet Chorus’ Camp when ready to continue.

As you approach the camp you may run into two members of the Chorus insulting each other. You can chime in if you’d like, or simply ignore it and move on. Chiming in will allow you to either stop the insults, bet on the fight, or kill one of the insulters based off of a skill check. Whichever you choose, finish up the encounter and then move on to the entrance of the camp.

Here you will encounter two guards. Speak to them to gain entry, and then, if you have at least 1 Favor with the Chorus, you can speak to Death Knell to unlock the side-quest, The Way of the Horde. You can also speak with Salveros, as well as Baz and Regg for training. Sniggler Dagos can be found at the top of the camp if you’d like to purchase some equipment or weapons.

Acquire Lantry as a Companion

When you are ready to proceed with the quest, speak with Fifth Eye to advance the Taking the Outer Valley quest that you picked up in the Disfavored Camp. You’ll be tasked with interrogating a captured Vendrien Guard member, VariahKel. If you have Athletics 20 or Subterfuge 30 you can get information from her. Then you can choose to either spare her or make her kill her comrades to prove she really wants to join the Chorus. Once that sideshow is complete another prisoner, Lantry, will speak up and you’ll have to decide what to do with him.

There are quite a few possible ways this can play out. So think about each choice carefully before you make it. If you make it through the situation and Lantry lives, he will join your party as a highly skilled Companion. However, if he dies, you will lose access to him as a Companion for the rest of the game. If he dies, the Archon of Secrets will still gain access to the information, allowing you to move on in the quest to capture Echocall Crossing.

After killing or saving Lantry, you will gain access to the next part of the quest and be able to travel to Tripnette Wilderness, where you must track down a Vendrien Guard officer and capture or kill him.

Capture or Kill Pelox

Head to the new location marked on your map and enter the new area. You can loot a chest here, based on your Subterfuge skill level. Afterwards head to the right and look out for Fake Limp, a member of the Scarlet Chorus. He’ll advise you about the situation, and tell you that his warriors are tired and in need of rest. If you choose to tell Fake Limp that you can take care of the situation, you gain favor with the Chorus, and get the chance to determine how things play out.

Head southeast of Fake Limp and his crew and loot the crates nearby. From there continue around, taking out any enemies who get in your way. Just beyond the first group is a second group, so make sure your party is ready for combat. Once you take out the two groups of scouts, head into the main camp and speak with Pelox Florian to progress the quest.

Your job here is to convince him to surrender of kill him. If you convince him to give himself up, you will gain favor with both the Vendrien Guard and the Scarlet Chorus. You also have the option of breaking the dialogue and attack outright at any point throughout the conversation.

Complete the encounter however you see fit, and loot the barrels and crates nearby for some additional goodies. Then head back out of the camp. If you spared Pelox or captured him then you will have to speak with Fake Limp, who arrives just as the fun is over. Complete the encounter however you wish. To proceed with the Battle of Echocall Crossing, make your way to the Crossing and speak with Antio to continue.
