No matter which path you wish to follow in Tyranny, Companions play a vital part in how you get there. While they aren’t as important as they were in Obsidian’s previous RPG, Pillars of Eternity, all six of the special companions in Tyranny play a vital part in the Fatebinder’s story. In this article we’ll go over where you can find each companion in Tyranny, as well as how they can be recruited into your party. Keep in mind, though, that you can only carry three Companions with you at a time.
Verse
The first Companion of the game, Verse is a Scarlet Chorus soldier who is met within the Edgering Ruins, just after the skill check at the boulder after your first battle. You come across her battling with several Vendrien Guard Oathbreakers. At this point you can decide to join battle with her, thus having her join your party, or simply watch her fight. She’s a highly capable Companion, whose main focus from the start is on duel-wielding and bows. You can lose access to this Companion during the final Archon discussion before you begin the questAssault the Citadel, so be sure to think carefully before making any responses in that conversation.
Barik
The second Companion you meet in the game, Barik can be found next to Iron Marshal Erenyos, after speaking with the Archons for the first time. He is a Disfavored soldier, who is very strong and works similar to a tank in MMOs. Like Verse, he can be lost during the final meeting with the Archons before the Assault on the Citadel, so be careful how you choose your responses during that conversation. He is also lost if you choose to begin the Oathbreakers quest line, and betray the Disfavored and all of Kyros’ forces.
Lantry
The third Companion you can acquire in the game can be found at the Scarlet Chorus Camp, just south of Echocall Crossing. Upon arriving and speaking with Fifth Eye you will help interrogate a prisoner. After the prisoner has been dealt with, Lantry will speak up, offering to decipher a letter for you. When he is unable to do it within a short amount of time, Fifth Eye sentences him to death. To gain Lantry as a Companion you must defend him in battle, acting as his “Champion” during the trial. Or you could always just demand the Chorus give him to you.
Eb
Eb is the fourth member of your party that you can recruit. Originally aligned with the Oathbreakers of the Vendrien Guard, Eb can be recruited at the end of the Ascension Hall fight in the quest Assault on the Citadel. If you spare her life she will pledge to serve you as repayment. She is a very powerful magic user, and her skills can be honed even more to make her a devastating force for your enemies on the battlefield. She can also be recruited during the Oathbreakers questline, where you turn your back on Kyros and fight to free the Tiers.
Sirin
One of the final two Companions available in the game, Sirin is a well-known warrior of Kyros who can be found in a small tavern in Lethian’s Crossing, after you have taken the first spire at Ascension Hall. She can be encountered before you find her in the tavern at Lethian’s Crossing, however she will not be in a recruitable state at that point in time. Travel to Lethian’s Crossing (you’ll need to deal with the Brotherhood at the crossing), and then speak with her to recruit her into your party and grow your arsenal of Companions.
Kills-in-Shadow
Perhaps one of the most interesting Companions available, Kills-in-Shadow is a beastwoman who can be recruited after completing either Into the Maelstorm or Dissonance of War. Once at least one of the before mentioned quests has been complete, Kills-in-Shadow will ambush you and your party. You’ll need to answer her questions correctly, and refrain from being too rude and unkind if you wish to bring this beastly machine of death into your party.
These are all six of the Companions in Tyranny. If you follow the information we’ve listed above you should have no problems finding and recruiting every member to your following. Just remember that some of these Companions can be lost during key moments of the game, so it is important to pay careful attention to every choice you make after obtaining them.
