Let's go on a mining adventure!
If you love games like Terraria and Stardew Valley, you should try Core Keeper, and now’s the best time to do so. Not only has the game received a major content update, but it’s also going free-to-play for a limited time on Steam.
Developer Pugstorm and publisher Fireshine Games announced that Core Keeper will be available for free on Steam from October 8 through October 12. And it’s not just a demo. You get the full game for the entire weekend, whether you want to play solo or with friends. Unfortunately, the offer is only available for a limited time, but the game is also on sale, so if you enjoy it, you can pick it up for a steal.
There’s a 40% discount during the event, cutting it to $11.99. The sale runs until October 22. If you’ve played before, it’s a great time to jump back in, with plenty of new content to explore.
What’s Core Keeper About?

Core Keeper is a mining sandbox adventure. You wake up in a mysterious underground world filled with hidden treasures, monsters, bosses, and biomes. There’s also a story to follow, and you can progress at your own pace. It’s similar to Terraria, but with an underground setting and a top-down perspective.
You start with basic tools and gradually upgrade your equipment as you explore new areas and gather resources to progress. There are also plenty of bosses to challenge players who enjoy a tougher fight. You can choose from a range of weapons and gear, with different builds to suit your playstyle, including Ranger, Melee, and even Mining-focused builds for gathering resources.
The game combines exploration, survival, crafting, and base-building. You can dig through underground biomes, grow crops, cook meals, fish, raise pets, and build a home to serve as your base of operations.
Core Keeper is available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, but this particular free weekend is exclusive to Steam.
