The Best Weapons to Use in Highguard
If only there were better optics...
With Highguard having different phases of combat and a unique arsenal of weapons available, it can be tough to figure out which weapon is best or well-suited to your playstyle.
In this list, we’ll break down all the powerful weapons and explain why they are considered great, especially in each phase or scenario in Highguard.
The Best Weapons in Highguard

The Kraken
The Kraken – a powerful pump shotgun that is extremely good in close quarters, especially when attacking and defending during the raid phase. This shotgun is particularly strong because of all the potential cover available when attacking or defending generators. Even if walls are destructible, you can always hug tight corners and use a shoot-and-cover approach when you are pumping the shotgun between shots.
It is extremely annoying to deal with, and since it packs a lot of punch, it only takes around three massive hits to kill an enemy. You’ll just have to hit your shots and play those corners perfectly to bring out the best in the Kraken.
The Viper
The Viper – a fully-automatic SMG that shreds any enemy up close. It is a bit inaccurate when used in mid to long range, so you always want to get up close against the enemy. Since it is going to be more of a positional battle with a 3v3 scenario, you’ll have to learn when to commit to a push since you can’t really deal with multiple enemies at once.
You’ll mostly use this weapon during the raid phase anyway. This is also great to pair with mid-range weapons since there will be scenarios where you’ll barely get a kill with just one magazine, and it is faster to switch to your other weapon than to switch just to secure the kill before the enemy starts retreating.
The Big Rig
The Big Rig – a light/heavy machine gun that is only obtainable through a care package. It is great for close to mid-range, and its main strength is that it has the power to wipe out multiple enemies at once, assuming you hit your shots.
It is a powerful weapon at close range as well, giving you the advantage in most situations thanks to its high magazine capacity. Once you catch someone in the open, it will be hard to play around it.
Vanguard
Vanguard – a versatile and accurate assault rifle, perfect for fighting at any distance. Since it is quite hard to shoot enemies in mid to long-distance fights because of smaller hitboxes and the lack of optic variety, the Vanguard’s accuracy is its main selling point.
It excels particularly well in wide-open fights, like when fighting for the Shieldbreaker. When fights usually take place where a team just needs to put pressure by hitting players from a distance, the Vanguard does it best, along with a few marksman rifles.
When a player or two get low, that’s when the team starts committing to a push. The Dynasty is also a good alternative to a fully automatic rifle that packs more punch but sacrifices some accuracy and fire rate.
Ranger
Ranger – A lever-action sniper rifle that is perfect for putting pressure on the enemy team, breaking armor pieces with high accuracy. It is the best long-range weapon by far, mainly because the Longhorn is extremely hard to use.
Nothing much to say here since there are only two long-range marksman weapons available. However, you do get a slight disadvantage during raid phases when using marksman weapons, since you’ll most likely want another weapon that can be decent for close-quarter combat.
If you get unlucky finding any of these weapons, you can just farm a lot of Vesper and try to buy it from the in-match shop if available.
