Mario and Bowser have been fighting for a long time, so it’s probably no surprise that Bowser has destroyed the kingdom once again and you need to use the Kingdom Builder in Super Mario Run to rebuild it. This article covers some Kingdom Builder strategies so you can get the most of the mode in Super Mario Run. You’ll learn how to buy and place items, as well as how to get rid of those pesky thwomps and even expand your kingdom.
Buying Items
When you play through the World Tour and Toad Rally modes, you will earn coins that you can use to purchase items in the Kingdom Builder shop. Once you’re in the shop you can purchase buildings, decorations or special items.
- Buildings – Choose from a variety of Super Mario-related buildings such as toadstool houses, pipes and more.
- Decorations – Aesthetic items used to increase the visual beauty and landscape of your kingdom.
- Special – This is where you can unlock Luigi and other characters (just buy their houses), as well as buying pipes to unlock bonuses levels and you can even pick up question mark boxes and more.
Not all items will be available from the start. You may have to meet specific requirements to unlock certain items. More often than not, you will need to obtain a set number of colored toads to unlock items. We’ve got you covered on finding different colored toads!
Placing and Moving Items
Once you buy an item you can place it in your kingdom. If you don’t opt to place it right away, or you receive an item as a gift, you can select the Place option from the menu and select the item from your inventory list.
You can also move an item that’s already been placed. Select the Move option from the Kingdom Builder menu and choose a new location for the item in question. You can also opt to select the Put Away option to completely remove an item from your kingdom and place it back into your inventory for later use.
Expand Your Kingdom
In the Special Items section of the shop you will find rainbow bridges. You will need to use colored toads to unlock rainbow bridges, with a higher number of toads required for each additional rainbow bridge you unlock. Unfortunately you can’t select exactly where you wish to place your rainbow bridge, but it does give you an additional screen to build in.
If you don’t have enough toads to unlock another rainbow bridge, you can try clearing away some thwomps. Complete all of the levels in any given world to unlock hammers (and Toad Rally tickets). Use the hammers to remove thwomps from your kingdom.
